Valentines Day Teddy Bears

 The first Valentine was supposedly written by St. Valentine. they was in jail for performing marriages despite a ban on marriages by Emperor Claudius. The emperor wanted the men to be soldiers in the army and they believed that married men with families are less likely to want to be soldiers. But Valentine continued to perform marriages and was put in jail. they supposedly fell in love with the daughter of the jailer and they wrote her a letter on the day they as executed - February 14th. It was signed "From Your Valentine." that is one of the tales anyway.



We all know that Big teddy bear have been around for years but officially got that name from Theodore Roosevelt. they also know that Elvis Presley would  be your teddy bear than your lion or tiger. But why are teddy bears so popular as Valentine's Day gifts?


So, that is where Valentine's began. For years the custom has progressed and continued. From giving letters, notes or cards, to giving paper dolls dressed like the gift giver and giving little tokens of love or friendship.


it is now the busiest time of year for individuals who sell teddy bears. it's become common to merge a bouquet of flowers with a teddy bear or to give another gift of jewelry with a bear as well.


But why teddy bears? I think it is exactly as Elvis Presley said - White teddy bears are the kinds of things you "love". Large teddy bears are cute and cuddly and provide comfort. Valentine's Day teddy bears are around for much longer than flowers or chocolates and they are a constant reminder to the one that receives it that the gift giver loves them. they inform that special someone that you want them to hug you and keep in mind you and think about you often.
